Industry Experience FAQ's Contact Us

Q1. We want to source a commodity from India /China, but we do not have the full specification/drawing with us. How can you help us?

If you can provide us the representative samples, we should be able to do reverse engineering and make the product. It may take much more time and effort to develop the product. However, having the drawings with detailed engineering specifications can reduce the time markedly.

Q2. Once a drawing for a new part is submitted, how long does it take to obtain a quote?

After submitting a request for quotation (RFQ), depending upon the simplicity or complexity of the part, the process may take anywhere from a week to four weeks.

Q3. We want to develop a new product. Can you help us in the design and manufacturing of the product?

Yes. We have the capability to assist you in formulating the specifications for a product. Once the specifications are formulated, we can then work with our suppliers to manufacture it. You will need to provide us with inputs required for designing the product, like end use of the product, a basic idea about the product’s functioning, etc.

Q4. Can I see a list of products you can supply from a low cost region like India/ China?

Please visit our website to have a look at the list of items/ products and industries we currently serve. If you have a product to be sourced that is not in the list, you can still send us the request for quotation (RFQ) and we will work with our quality contacts to satisfy your needs.

Q5. Can our representative visit the suppliers who will manufacture our products?

Yes, once we reach an agreement on the costs and the contract, we will be glad to arrange for your visit.

Q6. What is the procedure to request engineering support for a part that requires repair/maintenance?

We will contact the supplier and get the engineering help needed to resolve the issue in a timely manner. Through teleconferencing, we can discuss ideas and suggest solutions to problems.

Q7. Can you give us couple of examples of the work you have done? We do not need specifics but we want to know the process and probable benefits of adopting a global sourcing strategy.

Here are the examples of the work we did in the past that resulted in substantial financial savings without sacrificing the quality. These examples, however, are only partially representative of the variety and the scope of work we have handled in implementing global sourcing strategy for our clients.

Example 1: Two plants of a corporation, one in the United Kingdom and the other one in the United States manufactured hydraulic valves. The sand castings required for these operations were bought from a source in the US at the rate of $ 2.835 / piece. The total requirement for the two plants was one million pieces per annum (500,000 for each plant). Within a span of one year (2001) we identified a source from India and worked with the company to develop the required castings. The parts obtained from the new source used the shell molding process, which provided much better dimensional accuracies and surface finish than the conventional sand castings process. The price we obtained from our Indian suppler for this enhanced process was $ 0.99 per piece including additional freight and other costs. Hence the total saving for the corporation with this deal was $1.84M.

Example 2: A screw machine supplier sold eight different components to the plant in the U.S. with the costs for these parts ranging from 10C to $ 1.16. With an estimated annual quantity of 16,000 to 2.5 M, the total purchase price within the United States was $ 2.4M. We were able to obtain the same components that met all quality standards from an Indian screw machine supplier within the price range of 8C - 93C, including the freight and other costs. The package priced $1.81M and the plant saved $ 596 K, a total of 33% savings.

Example 3: A Mexican company purchased their raw materials from the US through a supplier’s agent. The agent was charging 10% extra for providing assurance of payment to the US supplier. The supplier’s prices were also relatively higher when compared to competitors. We worked with the supplier on behalf of our client, eliminated the middle man transactions, negotiated for better prices and reduced the prices by 18%.

Q8. We have been already buying some products from India/China, but we have some issues in terms of quality, reliability, and delivery. How can you help us in sorting these kinds of issues?

We have the capability to reassess the suppliers, conduct an audit of their manufacturing process/ quality controls, and advice/ assist the supplier to adopt the right process. We also work with the supplier to ensure the stability of the manufacturing process so that you get the entire batch of your product with a quality that matches your acceptable standards. We can also suggest alternate suppliers if the existing supplier is not found capable of producing the quantity and quality suitable to your standards.

Q9. We have ordered some parts from India and China. Can you help us with pre-dispatch inspection of the goods?

We can organize the inspection from reputed agencies like SGS (www.sgs.com), though China Inspection Quarantine (CIQ) inspection is a must for all exports from China. Most (95% plus) of our suppliers from India are ISO 9000 certified. However, we do not have the inbuilt capability in our set up to inspect the goods/products.

Q10. We are a Mexico based medium-sized manufacturing company and 80% of our products are sold mostly in the US and a much smaller share in Canada. We import lots of our manufacturing equipment, raw materials and spare parts from the US as well. We are looking for a representative in the US and Canada who can provide us with the following services:
  • Assist us in locating the desired equipment, raw materials, spare parts etc. from time to time as needed, certify quality and negotiate for the best prices.
  • Act on our behalf as our representative in handling issues pertaining to customer complaints, orders, resolving any outstanding problems and improving communications amongst all.
  • Provide sales and marketing services for existing and new accounts in the US and Canada

We do exactly that for companies from India and Mexico, and are currently finalizing arrangements with two Chinese companies to provide similar services. Our services ensure quality and timely delivery of the products, and result in marked savings for our clients.

Q11. We are a US based company and are interested in marketing our products in Mexico, India and China, and looking for a representation in these countries. Can you help us?

Yes. We can review your products and provide you with detailed information about our services.

Q12. We are a Shanghai based Chinese company and are interested in purchasing all the assets of a company currently being liquidated in the US. Can you assist us in obtaining the information and later negotiating on our behalf for the best price?

Yes. Recently, we assisted a Chinese company in acquiring assets in the US at marked savings.

Q13. We need to buy capital equipment. How can you support this activity?

We can help you in locating quality suppliers who can supply the desired equipment, both from India and China. You will need to provide us with the complete engineering specifications of the equipment.

Q14. Can you help us outsource software solutions?

Yes. Our associate based in Orange County, CA and Hyderabad, India can build any custom application or support for your existing applications in Java/J2EE, .Net, ERP (SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft).
